A family with baby sits on a living room floor

The Catalysts

Eco Nesting Co. was born out of the deep desire to support mothers with optimizing their home environment, their mental health, and their innate desire to protect their families.

I remember it vividly. Standing in the kitchen, six months pregnant with my first baby. In full nesting modewhich is the biologically innate desire to prepare one's home for baby. I began reading about a study done by the Environmental Working Group. This study found 287 chemicals in the umbilical cord blood of newborns. Of those, 180 were known carcinogens, 217 known neurotoxins, and 208 had caused birth defects or abnormal development in animal tests.  This very moment was a catalyst.  This awareness of environmental toxins and their potential impact on my unborn child, shifted the trajectory of my life, specifically my approach to health. It’s not only what’s within us from genetics to nutrition, but also what’s around us that impacts our health and wellbeing, with the littlest being the most vulnerable.

Fast forward to after my third baby and I began experiencing a health challenge that left me mystified. I tried ALL the THINGS. It got worse.
As a burned out mama, I was forced to come to terms with the health effects of prolonged exposure to a toxin we all face. Stress. It is my belief that prolonged stress was the proverbial ‘trigger’ for this illness. Stress management became my full-time job, and over a few months, my body healed
Eco Nesting Co. was founded to support the lifestyle change of addressing environmental toxins, without the overwhelm and anxiety that often accompanies the 'Non toxic' movement.
Progress over perfection is my mantra, because with baby steps, BIG change is possible.

The Work

Over the last eight years, I have worked with families seeking natural solutions in their homes and health. As a certified Essential Oil Specialist, I have taught classes on how to use plant oils to support PTSD (alongside Dr. Jeremy Crosby), pain management, sleep, pregnancy/birth, kids health, immune support, digestion, toxin free cleaning, and so many more. I have experience collaborating with Psychologists, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, Health Coaches, Teachers, and more. One of my favorite experiences was supporting the implementation of aromatherapy in the Hospice unit of a Veterans Hospital in Wichita, KS.  For companion care, I was able to teach volunteers and staff how to use aromatherapy and comforting touch for the ‘No Veteran Dies Alone’ initiative. This was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

In 2022, I completed an Eco-Maternity course from International Parenting Health Institute. This certification provided extensive knowledge of the environmental toxins common in pregnancy and newborn products. In September of 2023, I completed 30 hours of PostPartum Doula training with DONA International. I'm currently volunteering at a women’s home in Lawrence, KS (Selah Home) supporting at-risk pregnant moms with postpartum care.

The Inspiration

Currently residing in Kansas, a believer, wife and mamabear to three littles. I am most fulfilled BEing in nature, listening to music, having kitchen dance parties, connecting deeply with others, and being witness to the wonder and awe of little humans.
